What I Bought... August 2011

New week, new post :) From time to time I'll be posting a round up of any great items I've bought throughout the month, sort of a mini haul you could say. This month I've bought some particularly fab things - all great bargains too :)

1 & 2. Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange and Harpers Bazaar Fashion: Your Guide to Personal Style, both Amazon

If you love fashion you simply must buy these cute books, they are both small so fit perfectly in your bag and they look fab too. My fave has to be Parisian Chic, not so much a style guide as an all round Paris survival guide which features fab tips for looking great, where to shop and eat in Paris as well as some sightseeing tips.

3 & 5. Yellow Peep Toe Heels & Leopard Make-up Bag, both Primark

I've never been a huge fan of Primark, feels like too much work to shop there for me, I like everything laid out cleanly in front of me. Whenever I do shop there though, I always walk away with some great buys like these gorgeous yellow heels or the cute leopard toiletry bag! I just love their accessory department, they have some fab bags and jewelery too :) Oooh, the nail polishes are new too - they are Peach Melba by Barry M and the other is by Misguided and was free with a magazine! Gotta love freebies!

4. Chanel Chance Eau de Tendre, Boots

I just love this scent, I already own the original Chance which is quite strong so perfect for a night out but this lighter version is just lovely. It's very summery with lots of floral and fruity notes, which you don't find very often in Chanel perfumes. I see this bottle running out very quickly! Definitely a new fave! :)

5. Mango Nude Skinny Jeans, ASOS

The best buy of the month has to be the Mango skinny jeans from ASOS. They say nude on the site but are infact a very pale pink - perfect with a simple white top or with a little leopard print for a sophisticated edge! The best thing about these jeans.... they were only £11! wow!

What great buys have you made this month?

10 of the Best.... Resort 2012

Diane von Furstenberg
This year Resort is bigger and better than ever before. The in-betweener is also the most bankable of all the seasons so it's no surprise fashions biggest names as well as some first timers ala Prabal Gurung debuted some of the most incredible shows of the year. From oversize bows at Christian Dior, chic tailoring at Stella McCartney and bold prints at Tory Burch; this season has it all.

Emanuel Ungaro
Lines will touch down around November so take notes now: native prints, coloured lace, 70's style separates and pyjama dressing are going to be huge! Of course, it wouldn't be Resort without tropical prints, nautical themes and swimwear. Long gone are the subtle navy stripes of past seasons, this year the volume is cranked all the way to 11! Just check out the adorable anchor dress from Yves Saint Laurent! I can't wait to see how the High Street echos these upcoming trends!

Enjoy my roundup of this glamorous seasons 10 best looks! Ashleigh x♥x

Soapy Bubbles...

So, this morning I've been slaving away in the kitchen making soap! It's so much fun and super easy. I've created two recipes to try out.. Green Tea & Eucalyptus and Chamomile & Lemongrass. I've just this second popped them out the moulds & they look incredible. I've used dried ingredients in them for a little natural exfolient so will need to see how they fair over time. I really hope they hold up and the halo effect you get when using living things doesn't affect them too much as the colours are lovely & soft and would sit alongside my other goodies effortlessly!

I can't wait to see how they turn out when they're ready. For now, Im working on some packaging ideas. I'm torn between using twin and a vintage style manilla tag as per my tea towels, cellophane bags & ribbon or a simple card wrap.

What do you think? Here are some ideas I've seen online:
