Oscars... All the Dresses

Black, white & red all over was the overall theme at last nights Academy Awards. The showstopper of the night was Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford from his latest collection - simple yet glamorous, finished off with nothing but sleek hair & a diamond cuff. I loved that Penelope Cruz opted for lavender - perfect for the season & Milla Jovovich looked stunning in a sparkly Ellie Saab number! Last years big winner, Natalie Portman looked young & fresh in vintage Christian Dior - love this look! Also, how good did Octavia Spencer look, that drapery around the bust line - stunning!

Out with the Old...

 (via)

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I have a week off my day job so I spent mine being rather lazy. I did however do some work for Illusive Print - yey! You may have noticed the new blog design, I'm gradually taking it to a more sophisticated, polished place but I'm taking baby steps. So far I've changed the background & swapped my Edwardian Script header font for good old Helvetica! I think it is much more contemporary & suits my style more. There is more work to be done but I'm happy with these changes for the time being :) What else did I spend my weekend doing? Well, I discovered a fab print on demand site & set up shop there - literally! At present there is over 20 designs in my store & I hope to add more today! I don't want to give away too much too soon so I'll leave you with a sneak peak of one of my new products :))) I'll be back soon with another post, have a great day! xXx

Meg Matthews for Dwell...

My lovely man works for furniture retailer, Dwell so thought it was only right I post about their recent collaboration with Meg Matthews. You may know Meg Matthews only from her rock & roll days with Noel Gallagher but did you know she has a range of scarves & wallpapers in Liberty of London?? Yip, it's true, it's a very successful range too so she has now teamed up with Dwell to create a capsule line of bedding & cushions. The collection will launch this Wednesday at a special preview event at the flagship store on Tottenham Court Road. I am a huge Dwell fan and I think the collaboration is infact a pretty good match, Dwell are knows for their contemporary, quirky & almost iconic accessories, diamante skull anyone - yes please!? I see the collection going down rather well, I love the russian doll bedding - who doesn't love an adorable russian doll?!

Runway Report... NYFW... Part 2

Anna Sui

Part 2 of NYFW was all about referencing past decades, the 20's, 40's, 60's & 70's were major influences. There was a lot of mixing of textures & fabrics, lace, fur, leather & sequins all in one collection. My favourite collection from New York had to be J Mendel - glamour, glamour, glamour & with Oscar season looming, I'm sure we will be seeing these stunning gowns on the red runway soon enough, who could resist the 20's style beading?! I always love Anna Sui's optimism & sense of fantasy in her collections, how fun is the 70's style kaftan above? As always, Michael Kors' collection was sophisticated & super glamorous - 'rugged glamour' as he put it! He wins first place for beautiful furs this season &  his mixing of textures is so well executed - lace with fur, tweeds with leather & feathers - love! I can't even put into words how much in love I am with Marchesa's collection, if I could wear 1 designer gown, it would be Marchesa! I can't wait to see what the London designers have in store for next season...

My Style Rules... Part 2

Okay, it has been a while since my last Style Rules post but I'm back with my next wardrobe essential! While the Blazer is definitely my number one must have for every girl - my number two is without a doubt - a statement handbag! Surprisingly I actually don't own very many myself, most of my bags infact have been gifted by friends & family. I'm on the hunt for the perfect bag to take me into SS 2012! Here is my round-up of the hottest designer bags of the season!

How many bags do you own? What 'It' bag is at the very top of your fantasy wish list?

Runway Report... NYFW Part 1

 Altuzarra

Well, fashion season has officially off to a flying start. First up was Mercedes Benz fashion week in New York. How crazy is it that it's time for the Autumn/ Winter shows already?! On the runway we are seeing a whole lot of meanswear & military inspired looks this season, alongside sheer fabrics, leather, studs & winter florals. In terms of colour, most designers have looked to the dark side, think deep navy, black, grey, maroon & army green. My personal highlights of the week so far have to be Derek Lam for his stunning floor length dresses & mixing of fabrics, Jill Stuart for mixing of prints on a line of cute dresses & separates, Mara Hoffman for taking a lighter approach with a global traveller vibe and Rachel Zoe for her oh so wearable line of tailored seperates. I will post more from NYFW on Friday but for now I leave you with some eye candy from the shows so far! :)
